Fall

Fall is finally here! This past month offered a few hurtles, but overall it went fairly smooth. Colin had his adnoids removed and ear tubes put in. He missed two weeks of school, but has made a complete recovery. Halloween was SPOOKTACULAR and even Jeremy dressed up just a tad for the kiddos :) I am looking forward to Thanksgiving and the Holidays!

First Grade homework

Colin has started first grade! Yesterday was day one. Along with all the excitement of a new school year came a stack of paperwork for Moms and Dads to fill out. After signing and reading for over an hour i was pleased to pack it all up and have him return it to his teacher. Little did i know more was on its way home today (day two). Those poor trees ;) After another 40 mins of reading i began to realize just how serious first grade is. There is a syllabus for goodness sake. That's what college classes send you home with. A ton of rules (all which Colin needs) and a daily schedule that's busier than mine.
First grade as i remember was full of crayons and chalk board work. Reading and math were also daily activities. These are also the focus in Colin's class, however, he also has nightly homework and weekly testing. I recall some testing but do not remember ever having nightly homework. Times are changing and rightfully so when, according to Chris Hedges article, (http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/20081110_america_the_illiterate/ ) 42 million Americans, 20% of whom are high school graduates, are illiterate. If nightly homework for my first grader will ensure a better future in literacy i'm game. Maybe if there had been homework when i was in first grade those statistics would be different. Just a thought.

FL...the good life

Our newest addition

Avery Ryder was born on June 14th, 2011. He weighed in at very large 8lbs 4oz! He is now 10 weeks old! Everyday is an adventure for the entire family! Colin has taken very well to his new role as "big brother." He is eager to sing and make faces with Avery. We have gotten settled into a great routine and on most nights get enough sleep! He grows fatter with each day and at his 2 month apt he weighed in at 12lbs 4oz. A 4 lb gain in 9 weeks is impressive :) Here is a pic of the little lobster

Time is flying...

Since my last post we have moved from Palm Coast to Daytona Beach! The move was very tiring but well worth it. Jeremy is now closer to his school and i am closer to my doctor. The beach is one block away and Colin's new school has smaller class sizes! All a big plus in my book! I am now 31 weeks pregnant and have been keeping busy with unpacking our new home and getting our nursery ready for baby Sebastianelli!
Summer is upon us and everyday the temperature is rising. The ocean is warm enough for a swim and we have enjoyed the last few weekends playing in the surf with Colin!

Enjoy the photos of the growing belly

Growing Pains...

Yes you are thinking i am having these from my belly stretching...however you are wrong~i am having growing pains from growing out my HAIR...this process is beyond frustrating! I have had short locks now for over seven years and am desperate to have a change. So i figured what better time to grow it then while Pregnant! With all the extra vitamins and time on my hands right? well this is really taking a toll on my appearance and my mornings! The process of looking presentable has become very time consuming! So until i have hair to tie behind my neck i will suffer from "growing pains."

Getting Organized

My desk has been the magnet for all things homeless. I finally got around to organizing it...and now it feels naked~

Before

After

Birdcaged Flowers

The window next to my desk has felt rather naked since i have moved in. It has plain white blinds, but no curtains...(just don't want any really). I decided to add a little spring to spruce up the bland white blinds. With Valentines coming and Spring close behind i added a splash of color. Hope you all like it~
I found these adorable bird cages at Michaels
Filled them with blue ribbon and pink flower petals
Added a small pink bird to one cage
Strung them through ribbon and hung from ceiling

Button Thumb Tack Tutorial

My work station is over cluttered with scraps of ribbon, cards, and little clip outs of this and that. So today i decided i was going to do a cork board to get organized! Well i didn't like the appearance of the plain thumb tacks so i added a little flare! Here is a step by step guide to making fun button thumb tacks~

Items Needed

*Colorful Buttons
*Flat Thumb Tacks
*Hot Glue Gun
*Cork Board (set of four at Michaels)

Glue a pea size of hot glue (*ouch it burns*) to back of the button!

Next carefully apply the thumb tack to hot glue

Allow glue and buttons to cool
Decorate Cork Board!
I love the look of this and am eager to fill it with my little findings!
